Management of hypercyanotic attacks
Management involves:
- placing the child with the knees against the chest
- oxygen
- morphine for analgesia
- Beta-blockers may be used to reduce infundibular spasm
- bicarbonate may be used to correct the acidosis
- avoid agitating the child
Early surgery is indicated if there are hypercyanotic attacks.
