  • cardiomegaly - left ventricular dilatation
  • occasionally there is mild left atrial enlargement
  • occasionally the aortic valve may be calcified
  • a prominence of the ascending aorta caused by dilatation
  • often features of pulmonary venous hypertension are absent until late in the coarse of the disease
