Rheological claudication is a condition with clinical picture similar to the pain resulting from chronic arterial insufficiency of blood flow to the lower limb, but in this case resulting from gross hyperviscosity of blood.
The pain usually affects the whole leg and is relieved by standing still. On examination, the patient has bounding pulses
The diagnosis is confirmed by doing a full blood count and ESR.
