Treatment
Treatment is surgical. Depending on the viability of the affected kidney, an embolectomy or a nephrectomy is performed.
Secondary prevention management options include:
- anticoagulation
- control of any condition such as atrial fibrillation
- aspirin therapy - 75 mg per day
