Clinical features
The clinical features of Nipah virus encephalitis are:
- at presentation:
- fever
- headache
- reduced level of consciousness
- distinctive developments include:
- segmental myoclonus
- hypotonia
- hypertension
- tachycardia
- brainstem involvement is common causing e.g. abnormal Doll's eyes reflexes
