Grading
There is a systematic grading system for the degree of clinical severity of an AV malformation:
- eloquent areas affected - for example motor or speech areas affected - score 1, otherwise 0
- venous drainage - superficial score 0, deep score 1
- size - less than 3cm score 1, 3 to 6cm score 2, greater than 6 cm score 3.
The maximum score is 5; low grades = 1-3
