Immediate treatment for ingestion of small amounts of hydrocarbons is to remove contaminated clothing, wash areas of skin contact and give a glass of milk or water to dilute ingested material and reduce stomach irritation.
Extreme caution should be exercised in deciding whether toempty the stomach of volatile hydrocarbons. Certainly thi should not be done outside a casualty department since volatile liquids are easily aspirated. Paraquat is about th only exception to this rule, as it is so toxic every second counts.
