The anterior bronchopulmonary segment of the superior lobe of the left lung is supplied by the anterior segmental bronchus, a branch of the left superior lobar bronchus.
The anterior segment is enclosed by other segments for all but its anterior, medial and lateral surfaces. Superiorly is the inferior surface of the apical segment. Inferiorly, from anterior to posterior are the inferior lingular and then superior lingular segments.
Medially, the surface of the anterior bronchopulmonary segment forms the area of the mediastinal surface of the lung that is superoanterior to the hilum. Posteriorly, there is the oblique fissure with the apical segment of the inferior lobe beneath this.
