Infantile torticollis occurs as a consequence of damage to the sternomastoid muscle, usually during delivery.
It may present between 6 months and 3 years with a tilited head towards the affected side. There is often facial assymmetry with retarded facial growth on the affected side.
Early on there may be a tumour-like thickening in the muscle on the affected side.
