nausea - occurs in approximately 1/3 of patients, particularly in the early stages of treatment
somnolence, dizziness, dry mouth and insomnia are relatively common
an increase in blood pressure was seen in clinical trials in patients treated with venlafaxine - this most often occurred with doses above 200 mg venlafaxine per day (1)
thrombocytopaenia - extremetly rare - has been described as a possible association by the UK Committee in Safety of Medicines - in the cases reviewed it is difficult to ascribe causality to treatment with venlafaxine with any certainty (1)
