In reverse rotation or the gut, during development the movement of the tract is 90 degrees clockwise on return to the abdominal cavity rather than 270 degrees anticlockwise. The resultant return of the gut loop to the abdomen means that the duodenum is left anterior to the transverse colon. There are usually no clinical problems.
