Malabsorption is the impaired absorption of nutrients by the intestine. Malabsorption results in the presence of nutrients, usually absorbed, in the faeces. In clinical practice it is generally only the fat content that is measured. In addition to abnormalities of absorption, disorders of digestion and intestinal transit are generally included.
