Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonitis is a slowly progressive reticulonodular infiltration of the lungs seen in AIDS. It is more common in paediatric disease than adult, and is thought to be the consequence of the immunocompromised lung reacting to some as yet uncharacterized stimulant.
Radiologically the lung looks similar to the lung in miliary tuberculosis, with widespread small lesions.
Treatment is with a prolonged course of steriods - around three months.
