Hypochondroplasia is an autosomal dominant cause of short stature, usually recognised in the second or third year of life.
There is an overlap in the clinical features seen in hypochondroplasia and achondroplasia; this condition has a wide variablity of severity.
This condition causes little morbidity apart from short stature.
Surgical intervention may be required for conditions such as bow legs or lumbar cord claudication.
