The left anterior superior mediastinal lymph nodes are a group of 5-6 nodes situated in a chain on the left superior surface of the heart and the inferior surface of the great vessels. They are interconnected by fine lymphatic channels to each other and other superior mediastinal nodes.
The most superior of this group lies slightly posterior to the brachiocephalic vein and anterior to the left common carotid artery. The most inferior member of the group lies anterior to the ligamentum arteriosum - the node of the duct of Botalli.
