This is an individual who has two different alleles at the same locus. A person will be a carrier for a disease if they have one recessive gene and one normal gene e.g. a carrier of cystic fibrosis. If a person has one dominant gene and one normal gene then the individual will be affected by the disease e.g. Huntingdon's disease.
