Old World tick typhus is similar to New World tick typhus, but it is a milder disease with a lower mortality.
In this condition the rash is of roseolar macules or nodules, but rarely progresses beyond this to become haemorrhagic. Sites include the trunk and the lower limbs, and eschar is frequent; accompanied by regional lymphadenitis.
