Afibrinogenaemia is a rare disorder characterised by the absence of fibrinogen and markedly increased prothrombin and partial prothrombin times.
Bleeding may be severe, akin to that seen in haemophilia.
Treatment is by replacement of fibrinogen with cryoprecipitate.
