autonomic - mainly anticholinergic, some alpha1- blocking eg disturbance of accommodation, dry mouth (commonly), difficulty in micturition, constipation, paralytic ileus, postural hypotension, tachycardia, increased sweating, orgasmic impotence, precipitation of glaucoma
psychiatric - insomnia and anxiety with imipramine, tiredness and drowsiness with amitriptyline and related compounds, toxic confusional psychoses (especially in the elderly). Mania may be provoked in manic depressives
neurological - fine tremor (commonly), incoordination, headache, muscle twitching, seizures in predisposed patients, peripheral neuropathy (rare).
others - cardiac arrhythmias; there may be prolongation of the QT interval and flat T waves with ST segment depression, allergic skin rashes, mild cholestatic jaundice.
