Over-the-counter (OTC) medication is bought by far more people than who consult their doctors for a prescription.

The doctor therefore needs to know what OTC drugs the patient has been taking so that he can:

  • recognise their side effects
  • avoid drug interactions
  • not prescribe what has already failed
