Radiologically in osteoarthritis, decreased joint space is the earliest sign. This is usually maximal in the superior weight-bearing region but sometimes affects the entire joint. In more advanced cases, the classic radiological signs of osteoarthritis become apparent, ie, subarticular sclerosis, cyst formation and osteophytes.
