Nutritional management involves:

  • pancreatic replacement therapy in the form of granules or tablets. Pancreatic extract is degraded in the stomach by acid and the effectiveness of this form of treatment can be increased by administration of H2 antagonists such as cimetidine
  • vitamin supplements - A, D, E, K
  • advice from dietician regarding special diets, for example high calorie content, high fat. The aim is to provide about 120% of the normal calorie requirements.
