The zygomatic branch of the facial nerve arises within the parotid gland and passes transversely over the zygomatic bone towards the lateral margin of the orbit. It innervates muscles in the zygomatic, orbital and infraorbital regions of the face, but particularly orbicularis oculi, and with the buccal branches of VII, zygomaticus major.
