Exploratory laminectomy is required for suspected intrinsic cord tumours.
Cystic cavities within the tumour or an associated syringomyelia may benefit from drainage.
Tumours with a clear plane of cleavage, particularly, ependymomas, may be partially or completely removed.
Radiotherapy may slow tumour progression.
