Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disease that presents with a pruritic papulovesicular eruption

The condition is closely associated with gluten sensitive enteropathy

  • at least 75% of patients with dermatitis herpetiformis have some degree of enteropathy (may vary from flat mucosa to partial villous atrophy).
  • on the other hand dermatitis herpetiformis is present in only 24% of patients with coeliac disease (1)
