the 2011 national audit of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in the UK showed that 6200 patients were seen in the seven designated centres giving a prevalence of 97 patients per million population
median age was 62 years with 1.8 females to every male. Nearly half the patients had pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and one fifth had chronic thromboembolic pulmnonary hypertension (CTEPH)
