The use of digoxin in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is detrimental, resulting in longer and more frequent episodes.
Furthermore, the heart rate during a paroxysm of atrial fibrillation is poorly controlled by digoxin. Therefore the use of digoxin in the management of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is better avoided (1,2).
