Indications
Indications for an episiotomy include:
- threatened tear of the perineum - especially primagravid women whose perineum is less elastic and less dilated than in multigravid women
- delayed second stage of labour
- forceps delivery
- breech delivery
- foetal distress
- prolapse of the cord
- premature labour
