As mentioned previously, chest pain is a very non-specific symptom that implies a number of possible aetiologies. Some of the other causes of chest pain are listed below.
The causes of chest pain have been classified according to whether the pain is characteristically poorly localized or well localised:
- poorly localized:
- angina
- reflux oesophagitis
- oesophageal spasm
- HOCM
- myocarditis
- tracheitis
- pneumonia
- peptic ulcer
- well localized:
- fractured ribs
- pleurisy
- Tietz's syndrome
- shingles
- biliary colic
- mastitis
- pulmonary infarct
