Investigations
Investigations in renal osteodystrophy include:
- blood tests:
- reduced plasma calcium
- increased plasma phosphate
- increased plasma alkaline phosphatase
- increased parathyroid hormone
- bone biopsy reveals signs of osteitis fibrosa cystica, osteomalacia and perhaps aluminium accumulation
- 'rugger jersey' spine
