  • blood tests:
    • reduced plasma calcium
    • increased plasma phosphate
    • increased plasma alkaline phosphatase
    • increased parathyroid hormone
  • bone biopsy reveals signs of osteitis fibrosa cystica, osteomalacia and perhaps aluminium accumulation
  • 'rugger jersey' spine
