Reduced cerebral oxygen supply
An acute confusional state may be caused by reduced cerebral oxygen supply:
- arterial hypoxia:
- pneumonia
- pulmonary embolism
- reduced oxygen carrying capacity of the blood:
- anaemia
- carbon monoxide poisoning
- reduced cerebral perfusion:
- heart failure
- myocardial infarction
