Capsaicin
Capsaicin is thought to act as an analgesic by depleting pain neurones of substance P.
Applied as a cream to the affected area, capsaicin is licensed for:
- post-herpetic neuralgia
- painful diabetic neuropathy, under the supervision of a hospital consultant
- osteoarthritis
