Haemorrhagic disease of the newborn
Haemorrhagic disease of the newborn refers to a coagulation disturbance that results from vitamin K deficiency and the consequent impaired hepatic production of factors II, VII, IX and X. It is a specific disease and does not refer to non-specific haemorrhage in the newborn.
