Frohlich's adiposogenital syndrome
Frohlich's adiposogenital syndrome seen in boys and is characterized by obesity and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. There is delayed skeletal maturation.
Variable features in this syndrome include:
- diabetes insipidus
- visual impairment
- mental retardation
Patients with this condition may present with a slipped upper femoral epiphysis. They are likely to be fat and short.
The anterior pituitary is usually unaffected in these patients. The syndrome is believed to be a result of hypothalamic dysfunction.
