Congenital cardiac disease with little or no cyanosis
Classification:
- with a left to right shunt - acyanotic shunting
- atrial septal defects
- ventricular septal defects
- patent ductus arteriosus
- with no shunt - acyanotic obstructive
- coarctation of the aorta
- pulmonary stenosis
- congenital aortic stenosis
- bicuspid aortic valve
- dextrocardia
Treatment is generally aimed at preventing the development of pulmonary hypertension.
Eisenmenger's syndrome may complicate those conditions associated with a shunt.
