Clinical features in children
The commonest signs of anaphylaxis in children are:
- pallor (shock)
- limpness
- apnoea
Other signs include:
- upper airway obstruction - hoarseness and stridor
- lower airway obstruction - dyspnoea and wheeze
- sinus tachycardia, profound hypotension with tachycardia
Skin:
- angioedema - swelling of lips, face, neck, tongue
- urticaria - itchy weals with erythmatous edges and pale blanched centres
- diffuse erythema
