Jaundice in pregnancy
This occurs in approximately 1 in 1500 pregnancies.
Causes include:
- jaundice caused by pregnancy:
- intrahepatic cholestasis (20%)
- jaundice in pre-eclampsia
- acute fatty degeneration of the liver
- intercurrent jaundice in pregnancy
- viral hepatitis (40%)
- cholelithiasis (6%)
- haemolysis
- drugs
