Loss of only dorsal columns
Causes of only dorsal column loss in spinal cord disease includes:
- peripheral neuropathy:
- diabetes mellitus
- hypothyroidism
- subacute degeneration of the spinal cord
- multiple sclerosis
- Brown-Sequard syndrome - the ipsilateral leg
- tabes dorsalis
- spinocerebellar degeneration e.g. Friedreich's ataxia
