Miscellaneous features of MS include:
- bladder dysfunction:
- disinhibition of detrusor muscle - produces a combination of urgency and incontinence. The severe physical disabilities may prevent patient from reaching the lavatory in time.
- complete urinary retention is often an early feature
- retention associated with urinary tract infection - the resulting cystitis exacerbates the urgency and incontinence, and so a vicious cycle occurs
- impotence
- Uhthoff's phenomenon
- epilepsy
- facial myokymia
- in advanced disease - euphoria or depression, social disinhibition, impaired memory, frank dementia
