Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy
This is a demyelinating disorder of peripheral nerves which is similar to the Guillan-Barre syndrome but produces chronic weakness which is either progressive or relapsing and remitting.
Features suggestive of CIDP include:
- weakness which continues to evolve over more than 4 weeks
- weakness which follows a relapsing and remitting course
