When considering cervical spondylosis, other disorders associated with neck or arm pain and sensory symptoms must be excluded. These include:
- cervical rib syndrome
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- supraspinatus tendon lesions
- multiple sclerosis
- neurofibromatosis involving the nerve roots
- vitamin B12 deficiency, causing subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord
