Cerebellar ataxia
Malfunction of the cerebellum itself, its input or its outflow results in a characteristic ataxia:
- broad-based clumsy gait
- difficulty walking heel-to-toe
- difficulty standing on one leg
- difficulty in the heel-shin-knee test
- intention tremor and uncoordination in the finger-nose test
Nystagmus, dysarthria and hypotonia are also characteristic of cerebellar disease.
