Pharmacologic causes of seizures
Drugs which may initiate seizures include:
- withdrawal from alcohol or alcohol itself, barbiturates, benzodiazepines or phenothiazines
- overdose, for example, with antidepressants
- toxins, for example, lead poisoning
- specific drugs, including:
- phenothiazines
- MAO inhibitors
- tricyclic antidepressants
- amphetamines
- lignocaine
- cocaine
