Structure:
- complex glycopeptide - contains an aminodisaccharide and amino acid molecules
Cautions;
- FBC, liver and kidney function test required
- Necrosis and thrombophlebitis due to extravasation at the injection site
- Reduced dose in the elderly
Contra-indications;
- Avoid parenteral administration in patients with renal impairment or a history of deafness
Routes of administration;
- Oral; þ Capsules
- i.v. infusion
