Thiabendazole
Indications:
- Strongyloidiasis
- adjunct in hookworm, whipworm or roundworm treatment
- Dracontiasis
- cutaneous and visceral larva migrans
- secondary treatment for threadworm when mixed with above infections
- Trichinosis
Cautions:
- hepatic or renal impairment
- discontinue if hypersensitivity reactions occur
Contra-indications:
- pregnancy
Side-effects:
- anorexia
- nausea and vomiting
- dizziness
- diarrhoea
- headache
- pruritus
- drowsiness
- hypersensitivity reactions including fever, chills, angioedema, rashes and erythema multiforme
- rarely: tinnitus, collapse, parenchymal liver disease
