Aetiology of childhood epilepsy
The syndromes of epilepsy in childhood may be conveniently be divided into benign and malignant:
- children with the benign syndromes may be mildly affected, easily controlled or mature out of epilepsy
- malignant syndromes result in treatment resistant epilepsy with severe or progressive motor and or intellectual disability
