Aetiology
Possible causes of secondary dysmenorrhoea include:
- endometriosis
- pelvic inflammatory disease
- submucosal fibroids
- endometrial polyps
- pelvic congestion syndrome
- intra-uterine contraceptive device
- ovarian cysts
- adenomyosis
- past history of sexual abuse or other psychological problems
