Side effects
These include:
- a potentiation of other drugs, e.g. barbiturates, alcohol, opiates, tranquilisers
- states of agitation and excitement
- orthostatic hypotension
- hypertensive crisis, if the patient eats foods containing tyramine, e.g. cheeses, yeast and meat extracts
- liver damage
Other side effects include:
- oedema
- sexual impotence
- failure of orgasm
- dry mouth
- constipation
- blurred vision
