Evidence of injury
Lacerations and bruising confirm the occurrence of a head injury but their absence does not exclude traumatic intracranial haematomas.
Distinguish deep lacerations due to depressed fracture and scalp haematomas. Frontal laceration or bruising suggests the possibility of a hyperextension injury to the cervical spine.
