Sodium docusate
Sodium docusate is a laxative with a surface wetting mode of action, but which also has a stimulant action.
Note - several studies and review articles have raised doubts about the effectiveness of docusate in preventing constipation, with a systematic review concluding that docusate demonstrates no greater efficacy than a placebo.
